Why you should go: If you don’t already follow GloZell on Twitter, @GloZell, or watch her comedy videos on YouTube, you’re really missing out on some good laughs. Glozell is an internet celebrity and comedian who’s been making us laugh for almost ten years. Videos like her “Cinammon Challenge,” her parody of Wrecking Ball, and her response to Rihanna lyrics show us the good, clean fun of wholesome humor. GloZell is a great reminder that you don’t need to be lewd and crude to be funny, talented and successful.

No really, why?: In the words of GloZell herself:
What: Janelle Monae outdoor concert, Sunday June 8 @ 7 pm; Red Butte Gardens, 300 Wakara Way, SLC. Tickets $62.

Why you should go: She’s a talented young black musician whose funky beats, androgynous fashion, and stylish hair take us to new limits of creativity and entertainment.

No really, why?: Check out some of the deeper thoughts behind what Janelle Monae is trying to do with her art. She’s been described as part of a movement called Afrofuturism, which uses futuristic themes like robotics, science fiction, and surrealism to push for social change and equality.

What: Yann Tiersen concert, Wednesday June 11 @ 8 pm; Urban Lounge, 241 S 500 E, SLC. Tickets $17 in advance, $20 at the door.

Why you should go: If you liked the Amélie movie starring Audrey Tatou, then you already like Yann Tiersen. Yann did almost all of the music for the Amelie movie soundtrack. Songs like his “Comptine d’un autre été” and “La Noyée” will have you catching the feelings and bonding with your inner Parisian.

No really, why?: Beyond Amélie, there’s a lot more music that Yann has put out both before and after the movie. In May, he just released his new album ‘Infinity.’ And check out one of our personal favorites–more of a classic Yann song: “Rue des Cascades.”
