Tip # 17: Slow down when saying your name

One of the most important things you’ll ever tell someone is your name. Because you’ve said your own name a million times it roles off your tongue and people are left wondering…”Wait…was her name Ashley? or what did she say…?”

Avoid this by slowing down and enunciating clearly when you get to your name.

“Hi, welcome, nice to see you. My name is Jane (slight pause) Doe, and what’s your name?”

This also works when introducing someone else.

“Have you two met before? This is my brother John (slight pause) Smith.”

Try it!

Love,
Angela
